Events for March 2011
Catherine Pluygers and Debbie Golt have organised a series of concerts for March, to celebrate the centenary of International Women’s Day.
Please tune in to Resonance FM, live on 104.4FM London wide on Tuesday 8th March, 8-9pm. Debbie Golt will host a show including live improvised music, and discussion with women film-makers on the following evenings event which will feature short films by women filmmakers with improvised music. The evening event on 9th March is at the atmospheric HMS President on north bank of the Thames, next to Blackfriars, which is also the venue for the final concert celebrating Women’s Contribution to Improvised Music, on 15th March
The first concert in the series is on Saturday 5th March 8.pm, at St. Stephen's Church, Pond Street, Hampstead, London NW3. Cathy Nardiello Solo piano will perform
New Music by Women Composers, including music by: Diana Burrell, Nancy van de Vate and Antoinette Kirkwood.

News from WiM members
Deidre Cartwright and Kathy Dyson have released a new album, Emily Remembered, a tribute to the late New York jazz guitarist Emily Remier. Deidre will also be appearing with her group Electric Landladies at the International Women’s Fair, Spitalfields Market, at lunch time on Saturday 12th March. The fair is open from 10am to 5pm. As well as live music, there will be craft stalls, info from women’s organisations and free tours of the Women’s Library.

Also through an extended weekend from Friday 10th to Sunday 13th of March, the Women of the World Festival at the Southbank Centre, with a daily conference (£12 for a day pass) as well as concerts and workshops. Women in Music committee members attended a series of planning meetings for this event. Please support and give us your feedback.
The 26th of March will see the world premier of a new work by Jenny Fowler, a Concerto for alto saxophone and orchestra will be performed at St John’s Smith Square by the Whitehall Orchestra with Amy Dickson as soloist.
…………….and finally June Boyce Tillman has successfully premiered a new work in Norwich Cathedral, Enfolded in Love, a musical pageant retelling the story of Julian of Norwich.
